 Meet Adrienne

AdrienneJ.jpgAdrienne’s unique multi-sensory method of instruction synthesizes her extensive training in both Eastern and Western approaches.

Eastern Oriented Experience
Adrienne has been a student of the Yogic Lifestyle for more than 25 years integrating professional level training and personal practice in Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Vocalization (Chanting and Sounding), The Art of Breathing (Pranayama), Yogic Philosophy, Yoga Therapy and Yoga Nidra. She is a certified Professional Level Yoga Teacher in the Kripalu tradition and is nationally registered by Yoga Alliance as an Experienced Yoga Teacher Trainer. 

More than 1,000 Yoga Teachers, Yoga Therapists and Professional Body-Mind Practitioners have completed Advanced Professional Level Teacher Training with Adrienne.

She is a member of the faculty of the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Certification program where she teaches Anatomy and a member of the guest faculty at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.

Western Oriented Experience
Adrienne designed fitness programs for adults diagnosed with cardiovascular disease and hypertension while studying for a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at Wake Forest University. Her in-depth, hands-on knowledge of human anatomy is grounded in laboratory experience which included dissecting human cadavers during her graduate program.

As the Founding Director of the Marymount Manhattan College Personal Fitness Trainer Certification Program, Adrienne instructed more than 600 adults in Anatomy of Movement and the Art and Science of Personal Training.

In 1984, she developed the fitness and yoga component of an integrative health program designed for older adults.

She has presented workshops at the IDEA Health and Fitness Association’s National Personal Fitness Trainer Conference.

East Meets West
Adrienne is the Founding Director of the Dharmic Institute's nationally registered Yoga Teacher Certification Training with a specialty in Women's Health and Healing, the first training of its kind in the country.

Adrienne has studied yoga therapy for women's health issues at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India.

She is currently the Project Coordinator and Principle Instructor for the research study: The Effects of Yoga Nidra Meditation on Asthma Management.

Adrienne has designed and presented workshops for not-for-profit organizations including the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC and St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. In 2000, Adrienne presented the workshop Anatomical Considerations in Hatha Yoga at the American College of Sports Medicine’s regional conference in New York City.

For more than 15 years, Adrienne has maintained a successful private practice in New York City.  She lives with her husband, Sundardas Ruben Giron, a musician and registered nurse.
